Charles Leclerc is set to spearhead a Ferrari one-two at the start of the 2023 F1 Mexico City Grand Prix, courtesy of a dynamic surge in the final qualifying stages.
Elevating his performance, Leclerc gained 0.8 seconds from Q2 to Q3, positioning team-mate Carlos Sainz just over a second behind, disrupting Max Verstappen’s prevailing dominance to clinch an exclusively Maranello front-row for the first time this season.
Verstappen occupies the third position on the grid, flanked by Daniel Ricciardo, while Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton secure the fifth and seventh positions respectively.
Logan Sargeant encountered difficulties, necessitating an appeal to the stewards for race participation approval after failing to register a time within 107% of the fastest in Q1, due to his times being annulled for exceeding track limits. Permission has been accorded.
